Morgan Stanley Wins Japan Deal Awards

Morgan Stanley recently received a number of awards from Asiamoney, Nikkei Bonds & Financial Weekly, Euromoney and Thomson DealWatch for its role in major transactions in Japan completed in 2004 and early 2005.

 

Morgan Stanley recently received a number of awards from Asiamoney, Nikkei Bonds & Financial Weekly, Euromoney and Thomson DealWatch for its role in major transactions in Japan completed in 2004 and early 2005.

Morgan Stanley received Asiamoney's "IPO Deal of the Year" award for Shinsei Bank's ¥250bn (US$2.4bn) initial public offering in February 2004, for which the Firm was joint global coordinator and joint global book runner. The transaction remains Japan's largest-ever IPO and the third-largest globally since 2000.

Nikkei Bonds & Financial Weekly also awarded the Firm the "Second Best Equity Finance Deal" accolade for the Shinsei Bank IPO.

Recognizing the achievements of the Firm's M&A business, Euromoney gave Morgan Stanley the "Best M&A House in Asia (including Japan)" award for the second consecutive year.

Thomson DealWatch awarded Morgan Stanley:

  • "Equity-linked Bond Issuer of the Year" for its role as joint book runner for NEC Electronics' ¥110bn ($1.03bn) issuance of convertible bonds
  • "Equity-linked Bond Overseas Deal of the Year" for its role as sole book runner for JFE Holdings' ¥100bn ($936mn) issuance of convertible bonds
