Morgan Stanley claimed four major awards for its electronic equities trading offering to its European institutional clients in Euromoney Magazine's Internet Awards for 2004 featured in the March issue. For the fifth year running, the Firm took the overall award, which recognized its three top finishes out of seven in equities categories this year.
In commenting on the awards, Euromoney editors cited "Morgan Stanley's pre-eminent position among equity investors as a supplier of trading products." Among its victories, the Firm prevailed "amidst intense competition in what is at once the nerdiest and sexiest of electronic trading categories," algorithmic trading.
The awards included:
- Equities
- Best at Program Trading
- Best at Direct Market Access
- Best at Algorithmic Trading
Euromoney also commended Morgan Stanley for the following categories:
- Derivatives Platform
- Equities Online Research Platform
- Electronic Prime Brokerage Platform
- Electronic Equity Derivatives Platform
Euromoney asked investing institutions, hedge funds, corporate treasuries, and state and pension agencies to rank which banks and other market players were doing the best job in providing Internet and electronic services across a range of markets and functions. Among the Euro 300, Fortune 500 and other listed companies queried, 1,777 responded during the November 8-December 24 survey period.
