When GI Jobs magazine announced its annual Top 25 "Most Military Friendly Employers" on November 7, Morgan Stanley took honors as the highest-ranked financial-services firm. The list recognizes those large companies that do the most for recruiting and retaining military personnel transitioning into the private sector and veterans. The Firm ranked 19 overall and was one of only two financial-services firms selected.

"In the coming years, as baby boomers retire and other labor pools dry up, the competition for talent will become more intense than ever in our nation's history," the magazine noted in a release. "Those companies that have established a reputation and pipeline for recruiting and retaining military talent will have a significant competitive advantage over those companies who were more short-sighted."

The magazine tabulated the list from surveys, interviews and research of Fortune 500 companies, looking at strength of recruiting efforts, percentage of new hires with military service and policies toward national guard and reserve service.

Morgan Stanley also ranked as one of the top five "Most Reservist-Friendly" employers. The results appear in GI Jobs's December 2005 issue.
