The 15th annual Nikkei Analysts Rankings were announced on March 24. Morgan Stanley was ranked in fifth place overall. Among foreign houses, the Firm placed third following Nikko Salomon Smith Barney and Deutsche Securities. The Firm had #1-ranked analysts in three of the 27 industry categories: Toshihiko Ginbayashi (Chemicals), Atsushi Takagi (Construction) and Mitsutoshi Murakata (Shipbuilding, Plant Engineering).

Morgan Stanley was also ranked fifth for industry analysts, strategists, economists, technical analysts, quants analysts and FX analysts combined.

The survey polled 1,181 institutional fund managers based in Japan, with a response ratio of 71.4%.
