Morgan Stanley Sweeps Institutional Investor Asia Research Survey With Eight "First Team" Positions

Morgan Stanley's eight "first team" positions were awarded to Economics, Equity Strategy, Banking, Consumer, Internet, Power, Telecommunications and India.

 

The results of the 2001 Institutional Investor All-Asia Research Survey have been released on iimagazine.com.

Morgan Stanley's Asia Research team ranked #4 in 2001 with 15 total team positions (versus #11 in 2000), up from a joint rank of #6 in 2000.

Whilst the top three places in the survey went to Merrill Lynch (23 total team positions), UBS Warburg (20 team positions) and CSFB (16 team positions), Morgan Stanley is the only firm to win a record eight first team positions, compared to Merrill Lynch's four, UBS Warburg's three and CSFB's two first team positions. Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia (CLSA) remained #5 overall (13 team positions), just ahead of JP Morgan (12 positions) and Goldman Sachs (11 team positions).

On a weighted basis, Morgan Stanley ranked #3, up from #6 in 2000. UBS Warburg (46 points) was only two points ahead of the Firm (44 points) in second place. Morgan Stanley doubled last year's point total.

Morgan Stanley's eight first team positions were awarded to Economics (Andy Xie & team), Equity Strategy (Ajay Kapur & Team), Banking (Andy Brown & team), Consumer (Angela Moh & team), Internet (Sunil Gupta & team), Power (Chris Huang & team), Telecommunications (Mark Shuper & team) and India (Ridham Desai & team).
