According to the Wall Street Journal All-Star Analysts Survey, Morgan Stanley captured 28 spots, finishing in fourth place overall with two more spots than last year. The seventh-annual survey measures stock-picking and estimate earnings accuracy of analysts in 55 industry groups, based on their 1998 performance. Of the 28 positions Morgan Stanley earned, 17 were for earning estimates and 11 awards were for stock picking. The 17 earnings estimates positions ranked Morgan Stanley number three.



The table below shows rankings awarded to current Morgan Stanley analysts. Of note, Morgan Stanley had five instances of double-teaming (WSJ 1999 All Stars who were also first-teamers on Institutional Investor’s 1998 All-America Research Team): Mike Blumstein (5th consecutive year as WSJ All-Star), Andrew Conway (4th consecutive year as WSJ All-Star), Mary Meeker (6th consecutive year as WSJ All-Star), Kevin Murphy (3rd consecutive year as WSJ All-Star), and David Togut (1st year as WSJ All-Star).
