In its July/August edition, consumer interest magazine Consumers Digest recognized Discover Brokerage's leadership in online investing, naming the company a "Top-Tier Broker Site." This recognition continues the series of accolades for the company; previously, it has received the highest ratings for Web brokerage from Barron's and SmartMoney. Business Week also named Discover Brokerage one of the best sites for "Serious Investors" and for "Where to Buy" bonds online.
Consumers Digest evaluated more than 100 on-line brokerages for the best combination of services and price. The review praised Discover Brokerage's "practical interface," 24-hour access to customer service representatives, and broad array of research, including earnings estimates and news reports.
"Investors are looking for an easy-to-use brokerage site with the best combination of access, investment products and research tools. With our new IPO Center, the redesigned Mutual Fund Center and an expanded list of top-rated research, we're able to offer our customers the best online investing experience," said Tom O'Connell, President and Chief Operating Officer of Discover Brokerage.
O'Connell continued, "We're excited that Consumers Digest has recognized our efforts to deliver the preeminent investing experience on the Internet. Discover Brokerage customers can look forward to further enhancements next month when we launch extended-hours trading and wireless trading."
In the past few months, Discover Brokerage has rapidly expanded its products and services by leveraging its relationship with Morgan Stanley, and by emphasizing investor education. The company recently launched a new IPO Center, providing qualified Discover Brokerage customers with access to certain Morgan Stanley-underwritten initial public offerings, secondary offerings and fixed income offerings. With the launch of its new Mutual Fund Center and other numerous educational resources, Discover provides investors with powerful tools and in-depth information that enables them to build and manage their mutual fund portfolios more effectively.
