The October issue of Global Finance magazine names the world's best banks, based on a survey of its readers and extensive research among major users of banking services and analysts who follow the banking sector. Morgan Stanley wins Best Investment Bank in the United States.
"We salute these institutions that represent excellence and leadership in their markets. They have distinguished themselves by providing innovative solutions and superior services for their clients," says Joseph Giarraputo, publisher.
To qualify for these awards, the banks not only had to have significant clout in their home markets, but also forward-thinking solutions for their clients. "These banks were difficult to select," says Kathryn Hanes, editor. "We were assessing the entire bank, not certain sections or teams. We looked for strong commercial and retail operations that also set about breaking new ground."
Many months of research go into selecting Global Finance's Best Banks. They are selected by Global Finance's editors beginning with a survey of its readers, which include senior executive and financial management at the largest corporations worldwide. Once the reader surveys have been reviewed, a team of Global Finance reporters investigate further, talking to bankers, analysts, and their banking clients to determine the winners.
