Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage Top Rated in Global Custodian Survey

In Global Custodian's 1998 Prime Brokerage Survey, Morgan Stanley received top ratings among Prime Brokerage's market leaders; Morgan Stanley received two "Commended" rankings in Operations and a "Top Rated" ranking in Financing and Securities Lending.

 

In Global Custodian's 1998 Prime Brokerage Survey, Morgan Stanley received top ratings among Prime Brokerage's market leaders; Morgan Stanley received two "Commended" rankings in Operations and a "Top Rated" ranking in Financing and Securities Lending. Morgan Stanley joined Bear Stearns, Goldman Sachs and Furman Selz in the "bulge bracket" group of the survey's three-tier grouping system. Furman Selz was the only other firm Top Rated twice. The survey also included the Firm in its international group.

The survey included the following notes on the Firm's brokerage capabilities:

  • Operations: "Morgan Stanley [Dean Witter] is operationally first-rate."
  • Operations international: "Morgan Stanley [Dean Witter], in both Asia and Europe, has better scores and comments than its rivals."
  • Financing: "Morgan Stanley [Dean Witter] is very strong in this regard; good scores and comments characterize the firm's financing capability."
  • Securities Lending: "Morgan Stanley [Dean Witter] is the mother lode when it comes to securities lendingÂ… Excellent product is the order of the day."
Morgan Stanley's Prime Brokerage supports clients in the financing, clearance and settlement of securities trades.

Global Custodian's survey included the responses of 636 fund managers, as well as data gleaned from interviews with the respondents and interviews with offshore fund administrators.
