Candidate lists are based on league tables, banks' profitability, and journalists' market soundings. Short-listed candidates are then asked to submit a one-page synopsis detailing why they should receive the award, and the magazine carries out interviews to obtain a deeper understanding of each bank's capabilities and track record.
