Morgan Stanley's Sustainability Leadership Recognized at Davos

Morgan Stanley was awarded the distinction of "Sector Mover" for the Firm's significant recent improvements in sustainability.

Morgan Stanley was awarded the distinction of "Sector Mover" for the Firm's significant recent improvements in sustainability. The award was given by SAM, a firm that partners with Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) to provide asset managers with objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios. SAM announced the award in "The Sustainability Yearbook 2012," which was released on Jan. 26, 2012 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The "Sector Mover" award is given to the company within the top 15 percent of each sector that has achieved the largest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance compared to the prior year.

Criteria evaluated by SAM included companies' climate change governance, environmental reporting, business opportunities and risks, customer relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and human capital development and retention, among other indicators.

Morgan Stanley is listed in both the North America and World Indices of the DJSI.

Each year, the world's 2,500 largest companies, as reflected in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index, are invited to participate in SAM's Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Only the top-scoring 15 percent of the companies in each of the 58 sectors assessed are eligible for inclusion in the Yearbook.
