The Financial Times and Mergermarket recently awarded Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners and Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board the Private Equity Latin America Deal of the Year Award for their $1.3bn acquisition of SAESA Group in Chile. The inaugural awards recognize corporate, private equity, banking and legal M&A expertise and excellence in the Americas.

The judges included editors from the FT, The Banker and Mergermarket, as well as respected senior business figures from the advisory, corporate and private equity worlds.

SAESA was a landmark deal for Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, constituting its first investment in Latin America. 

The transaction was also notable for being a cross-divisional effort, with Morgan Stanley Investment Banking acting as financial advisor to MSIP and OTPP.
