Barron's ranks advisors according to assets under management, revenues the advisors generate for their firms, quality of the practice and other factors. The top 1,000 advisors came from a mix of large Wall Street firms and smaller independent shops. They increased their assets under management by an average of 12 percent in the 12 months through September, according to the results released in February.
