Financial News Recognizes Firm for 'IT Excellence in Investment Banking'

Financial News presented Morgan Stanley with three of its five annual European IT Excellence in Investment Banking awards.

 
Following a ceremony at London's Merchant Taylor's Hall, Financial News presented Morgan Stanley with three of its five annual European IT Excellence in Investment Banking awards on September 21.

The event's panel of judges, composed of 11 independent industry experts from consultancy and market research businesses, distinguished the Firm with the following awards:
  • Best IT Department
  • Most Innovative IT Initiative, awarded for "Capital in Peril?" - a client-facing, technology-based simulation developed collaboratively by IT and Investment Banking Division
  • Most Quantifiable ROI from IT Investment, awarded for the European Cash Equity Straight-Through Processing Program
  • Runner-up for Best Algorithmic Trading System
This is the third consecutive year that Financial News recognized Morgan Stanley through this award program. In 2004, the Firm received awards for Best Personal and IT Team Contribution and Best Electronic Trading: Dealer to Institution. In 2003, Financial News awarded the Firm Best Electronic Trading: Dealer to Institution.

While presenting the coveted Best IT Department award to Morgan Stanley, Financial News cited Morgan Stanley's ability to "demonstrate how technology had helped it develop its European business through better product offering, increased trading volumes and market share last year."
