For Fifth Straight Year, Morgan Stanley Tops Overall in Securities Lending

Peers in the securities finance industry once again ranked Morgan Stanley the best and biggest equity borrower, for the fifth year running, according to Euromoney's International Securities Finance.

Peers in the securities finance industry once again ranked Morgan Stanley the best and biggest equity borrower, for the fifth year running, according to Euromoney's International Securities Finance. The results of the 2005 Global Equity Finance Survey appear in the September edition.
Highlights of the Firm's rankings in the survey include:
- #1 overall borrower in Unweighted, Weighted and Key Clients
- #1 in All Regions (Americas, Europe and Asia)
- #1 in 10 out of 11 categories
Morgan Stanley placed first in the American, European and Asian regions, winning the Overall Best Global Borrower title in the Weighted (size-adjusted), Unweighted and Key Clients categories. The Firm has ranked number one or two in every rated category for the fourth year in a row.
Referring to Morgan Stanley's size, scale and presence in the market, ISF noted, "It's not for nothing that some competitors refer to the bank as 'the machine'."
ISF asked counterparties to rank each other according to 11 service categories. Topping the survey by a sizeable margin, Morgan Stanley placed first in the following critical categories:
- Global Coverage and Coordination
- Total Revenue to Lenders
- Breadth of Balance
- Consistent High Balance
- Market Knowledge
- Innovation and Product Knowledge
- Market Development
- Connectivity and Automation
- Operations
- Risk Management and Credit Capacity
