Morgan Stanley won six awards in Global Finances first annual Worlds Best Investment Banks survey. The June issue of the investment banking publication highlighted Morgans Stanley strong franchise across the globe with awards for banking in North America, Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.
Awards Included:
- Best Debt Deal: General Motors US$17.9bn Bond Issue
- Best North American Equity
- Best Ex-Japan M&A
- Best Central and Eastern European M&A
- Best Global Bank in Financial Institutions Sector
- Best Investment Bank in China/Hong Kong (with China International Capital Corporation)
Global Finance noted Morgan Stanleys dominance in the equity markets: "While all investment banks have benefited this year from improved market conditions, Morgan Stanley was the only leading firm to increase its market share of common-stock proceeds during the more trying times that prevailed in 2003."
The Global Finance editors selected the winners based on input from industry insiders and analysts. Award categories included best debt, equity, M&A and overall investment bank in seven regions and globally with 15 country winners.
The industry publication also gave out three editors choice deal of the year awards in equity, debt and M&A. The $17.9bn GM bond deal, recognized for Best Debt Deal, represents the largest corporate debt offering ever. The article also mentioned Morgan Stanley and China International Capital Corporations first and second place performance on Dealogics league tables.
