BusinessWeek Names Morgan Stanley in 100 Top Brands

BusinessWeek named Morgan Stanley #26 out of 100 top global brands.

In its August 5 issue, BusinessWeek named Morgan Stanley #26 out of 100 top global brands. The Firm outranked J.P. Morgan (#29), Goldman Sachs (#39), Nike (#35) and Pepsi (#45).

The publication considered brands valued at US$1bn or more. Two other criteria determined eligibility:
  • At least 20% of the brand's sales must originate outside the company's home country.
  • The company must have publicly available data on which to base the rankings.
"Being recognized for the first time by BusinessWeek as one of the world's top brands validates not only the importance we place on the Morgan Stanley brand as a firm, but our success in building this brand with our clients," said Phillip Raskin, Head of Firmwide Branding.

BusinessWeek relied on Interbrand, the world's leading branding consultancy, to calculate the rankings based on factors including market leadership, stability and international appeal. Interbrand values brands based on how much the company is likely to earn in the future.
