Euromoney magazine honored Morgan Stanley with 20 Awards for Excellence in 2011, including two top accolades — Best Global M&A House and Best Global Equity House.
Awarding Morgan Stanley Best Global M&A House, Euromoney editors cited the Firm for its capacity for innovation, nimble thinking and value from its long-standing client relationships.
"Morgan Stanley's competitors quietly admit that the bank has maintained this franchise well in the face of assault from universal and other banks with bigger lending, debt capital markets and risk management franchises," said Euromoney. "For the period under review for these awards, Morgan Stanley soared to the top of the global M&A advisory league tables, advising on 380 deals worth $671 billion, well ahead of its short-listed contenders."
Euromoney also recognized Morgan Stanley's equities business with two global awards: Best Global Equity House and Best Global Emerging Markets Equity House. In its write-up, the editors acknowledged Morgan Stanley's role in many landmark deals, including:
· $22 billion IPO for Agricultural Bank of China
· $23 billion General Motors IPO
· $10 billion Glencore IPO
· $70 billion follow-on by Petrobras
· $9.2 billion follow-on by BlackRock
· U.S. Treasury's $10 billion secondary offering of Citigroup stock
"One of the keys to Morgan Stanley's success is that even while it was going through the mill in 2008, it continued to invest in its equities business and never stopped focusing on clients," noted Euromoney.
Euromoney also presented Morgan Stanley with 17 country and regional awards.
