Morgan Stanley was ranked #1 with a total of 23 positions, which is the first time ever that a non-Japanese house has achieved this distinction.

 
The results of the 2001 Institutional Investor All-Japan research survey have been released. Morgan Stanley was ranked #1 with a total of 23 positions, which is the first time ever that a non-Japanese house has achieved this distinction. Rounding out the top six were Nomura Securities at #2 (with 19 positions total), Nikko Salomon Smith Barney at #3 (18), Goldman Sachs at #4 (16), Merrill Lynch at #5 (14) and UBS Warburg at #6 (13).
